Privacy Policy
At a glance
- Your reading, bookmarks, highlights and notes are stored only on your device.
- Optional iCloud Sync goes through your own personal iCloud account. We run no servers that receive it, and we never see it.
- Anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting are off by default and only ever collect anything if you switch them on.
- No ads, no trackers, no IDFA, no data brokers, and nothing is ever sold or shared.
- Nothing we collect is linked to your identity or used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
1. Who we are
Quran Kareem — Mushaf Al‑Madinah is an independent iPhone app. Questions about this policy or about your data can be sent to contact@al-quran-al-kareem.com.
2. Offline‑first by design
The app is built to work without a network. Everything you create while reading — your position in the Mushaf, bookmarks, highlights, notes, memorization settings, goals and statistics — is written to storage on your device. All core features, including reading, search and notes, work fully in airplane mode.
3. Optional iCloud sync
If you turn on iCloud Sync in Settings, your bookmarks, notes and reading data are synchronised between your own devices through your personal iCloud account, using Apple’s iCloud services. We operate no servers that receive or store this data and we never see it. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy. Turning iCloud Sync off stops the synchronisation; you can delete the app’s iCloud data from your Apple account at any time.
4. Optional anonymous analytics and crash reporting
The app embeds Firebase (Google) — Analytics, Crashlytics and Cloud Messaging, an Apache‑2.0 licensed SDK. All Firebase data collection is disabled by default. Nothing is sent unless you explicitly enable Anonymous usage analytics in Settings. While it is enabled, the following is collected:
- Product interaction — anonymous, aggregated counts of in‑app events (for example “reader opened”), used to understand which parts of the app are used and to improve them.
- Crash and diagnostic data (Crashlytics) — crash reports and technical diagnostics, used to find and fix bugs.
- A device identifier — the Firebase installation ID / push‑registration token and the vendor identifier (IDFV), used only to make analytics and push notifications function.
You can turn this off again at any time in Settings → Privacy → Anonymous usage analytics; collection stops immediately.
5. No advertising and no tracking
There is no advertising in the app. We link the ad‑ID‑free build of Firebase Analytics, so no IDFA is collected and the app shows no App Tracking Transparency prompt. None of the data described above is used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and none of it is linked to your identity. We do not work with data brokers, and we do not sell or share personal data.
6. Push notifications
Push notifications are used only for the daily reading reminder you opt into, and only while the Notifications toggle is on. Turning notifications off in the app or in iOS Settings ends them.
7. App Store privacy label
The data types disclosed on our App Store privacy label are exactly: Product Interaction, Crash Data and Device ID — each marked not linked to your identity and not used for tracking. Each is collected only while you have analytics switched on.
8. Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment details.
9. Children
The app is suitable for all ages, does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, and contains no advertising or user‑to‑user communication.
10. Your choices
- Analytics and crash reporting: off by default; toggle in Settings at any time.
- iCloud sync: off unless you enable it; disable to stop syncing.
- Notifications: opt‑in and revocable in iOS Settings.
- Deleting the app removes all locally stored data from the device.
- To ask a question or request deletion of anything associated with the app, e‑mail contact@al-quran-al-kareem.com.
11. This website
This site is a static website. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and no JavaScript at all, loads its fonts from this domain rather than from a third party, and collects no personal data from visitors.
12. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the app.
